The Race for Survival: How the Future of Technology Will Save Our Well-Being

Fitness
Perspective

Swipe. Tap. Scroll. Like. Read. Repeat. Staring at social media feeds, checking texts, crafting emails, scheduling appointments—we devote an average of five hours per day to our mobile technology. We unlock our iPhones over 80 times in a 24-hour period. Our codependency to our mobile devices cannot be ignored, and it’s weighing on our well-being.

Finding a balance between leveraging our society’s addiction to mobile technology and positively influencing the state of wellness in our nation is not only a challenge, it’s solution can define our generation. But how do we solve this epidemic? We don’t let screen time destroy our well-being, we embrace it. We lead the innovation of an individualized and personalized, technology-driven wellness journey.

Here at MINDBODY, our global booking platform enables us to connect consumers to the world to fitness, wellness, and beauty through thousands of top-tier businesses and millions of classes, appointments, and services. How we utilize our data through unparalleled integrations with other social and technology partners can affect the consumption of wellness across the world.

To pivot our culture, we need to put wellness services at the forefront of technology through clear and seamless actions that don't interrupt—but decidedly disrupt—our current behavior. By working with companies like Amazon, Strava, Facebook and Instagram, we can integrate future advances in mobile, AI, and machine learning to transform the way we care for ourselves.

Our latest integration with Instagram and Facebook leverages social behavior to influence fitness and wellness. Billions of users on these social networks can now book their boutique fitness classes via a studios profile page, staying within their social ecosystem while bettering their well-being. We have partnered with Strava, the ultimate social network for athletes, to track fitness accomplishments through MINDBODY app bookings. Imagine asking Alexa to book your next aerial yoga class at a new studio or schedule a massage at your favorite spa—this is just the beginning.

The first step to redefining our societies perception of wellness begins with targeting the largest generation in U.S. history: millennials. Their affinity for technology shapes how they spend their time and money.  Not only are they digitally savvy, but millennials also tend to prioritize wellness and bring fitness into their daily lives, both online and off.

“This generation has created a personalized on-demand economy. They seek value rather than price, and are spending more on experiences rather than things,” said Doug Hecht, MINDBODY SVP of Consumer Products. “They also are more aware of their health and wellness than any previous generation. They eat better, they work out more, and they track their fitness more than any generation.”

According to a study by Yahoo Health, millennials consume a large amount of health content, with 1 in 3 sharing health info through social media, websites, text or email each week. By integrating the ability to instantly book fitness classes into their social media feeds and favorite apps, their interest in wellness can only be enhanced.

By joining forces with influential global brands and leaders, it becomes our responsibility to take the necessary steps to help our society consume wellness in a way that influences our future. By working together with today’s most consumable apps, MINDBODY makes discovering, booking and engaging with fitness and wellness easier than ever, helping to shape how we utilize technology to live—and lead—our healthiest lives.

Not Too Cheesy: Vegan "Cheese" Recipes That Taste Like The Real Thing

Recipes
Food
Nutrition

We all love cheese. And if you don’t love cheese, well, you just haven’t found the right kind for you. If you’re unlucky like me, however, cheese does not like you. Thankfully, we live in 2020, where plant-based cheese recipes are alive and well.

I have been dairy-free for a few years, and cheese is truly the food group I miss the most. As much as we try, we sometimes just can’t get vegan cheese to taste like the real thing. So, I recruited my dairy-loving, cow-consuming friends to be my taste-testers. Their brutal honesty helped me create some “fake” cheese that can actually compete with the real stuff.

Goat "Cheese" Ball

Did you know you can make mouth-watering “fake” cheese with macadamia nuts? Yes, macadamia nuts. If you’re craving that creamy consistency but your stomach isn’t down for dairy, try out this recipe inspired by Simple Vegan Blog

No one can tell the difference between this recipe and their favorite gooey cheese sauce. This recipe makes a lot of sauce, so be ready to share and shock your dairy-loving friends.
