6 Valentine’s Day Gifts for You, from You

Motivation
Relaxation
Personal Growth

It’s February and you know what that means. Pink and red hues have taken over every store, and all your coworkers are discussing what to do for the big day. Valentine’s Day.

While we all might want someone to be ours this February 14th, don’t forget the most important person on your list—you. Join the ranks of Donna Meagle by treating yo’ self to a few gifts focused on health, wellness and relaxation!

bath self care
Draw yourself a relaxing bath

Being in a relationship is great, but have you zenned out to a really relaxing bath recently? Get ready to soak all your stress away! Don’t forget a good read, glass of wine, the calming aroma of a candle, and some luxurious Lush products. Before you know it, your tub will be transformed into the ultimate oasis.

journal
Jot it down in a new journal

In a world filled with posts to like and stories to watch, it can be a challenge to unplug. Carve out some “me time” with journaling! Not only does writing it down boost your self-esteem, it can relieve stress, reduce anxiety, increase creativity and help you let go of those negative emotions.

Harness positive vibes with a Himalayan salt lamp

You’ve heard of diffusers, but what’s the deal with a Himalayan salt lamp? More than just a radiant rock to light up your space, Himalayan salt lamps can clean the air, reduce allergies, improve blood flow, decrease stress, and even relieve insomnia. The relaxing light boosts serotonin levels, which helps you stay focused, energized and ready to take on any Monday that comes your way.

gym gear
Step up your gym game with new gear

A solid pair of sneakers guarantees comfort and the ability to get up and moving when anxiety or stress strikes. Say yes to self-care and who knows, they might even motivate you to get outside with a hike or long walk on Valentine’s Day. Let’s be honest, you can only watch Pretty Woman so many times.

Cuddle up in a cozy robe

Give yourself the gift of relaxation for all your after-bath needs with a comfy robe. Unwind in a fuzzy favorite designed purely for comfort, or splurge on something silky and sexy just for you. No matter the occasion, make a statement and feel good in your own skin.

meditation
Make time to meditate

While some say that disconnecting from your device is essential, technology can also be a great tool for mental health. Take a break from Candy Crush and give your mind a daily vacation with the unlimited amount of meditation apps at your fingertips. From Simple Habit or Headspace, stretch your emotional muscles with tech that’s all about making each day a better one.

Sign up for the self love club and remember that focusing on you isn’t vanity, it’s sanity. Be your own valentine!

Not Too Cheesy: Vegan "Cheese" Recipes That Taste Like The Real Thing

Recipes
Food
Nutrition

We all love cheese. And if you don’t love cheese, well, you just haven’t found the right kind for you. If you’re unlucky like me, however, cheese does not like you. Thankfully, we live in 2020, where plant-based cheese recipes are alive and well.

I have been dairy-free for a few years, and cheese is truly the food group I miss the most. As much as we try, we sometimes just can’t get vegan cheese to taste like the real thing. So, I recruited my dairy-loving, cow-consuming friends to be my taste-testers. Their brutal honesty helped me create some “fake” cheese that can actually compete with the real stuff.

Goat "Cheese" Ball

Did you know you can make mouth-watering “fake” cheese with macadamia nuts? Yes, macadamia nuts. If you’re craving that creamy consistency but your stomach isn’t down for dairy, try out this recipe inspired by Simple Vegan Blog

Nacho "Cheese" Sauce

I know what you’re thinking: is this real? Is it too good to be true? No nuts, no fat, and it tastes good? You’re in for a treat. No one can tell the difference between this recipe and their favorite gooey cheese sauce. This recipe makes a lot of sauce, so be ready to share and shock your dairy-loving friends.
