Your Guide to Our Go-To Facials in the Mile High

Beauty
Skincare

Is your skin lacking a certain luster after the long, dry Denver winter? Yeah, we thought that might be the case. Whether you’re looking for a little *extra* hydration or want to give your face a refresh, let our favorite local professionals take your skin from blah to ta-da in no time at all with our four go-to facials around the Mile High.

Glow Facial Bar

Congress Park neighborhood
Our favorite: Ready Set Glow
Express facials? Say no more! From finding time on your lunch break to a self-care Saturday, Glow Facial Bar has your skin covered. With offerings that fit every budget, this fast (and powerful) facial makes dry, winter skin a thing of the past. Focused on hydration, your skin will be glowing in no time at all—hence the name. Plus, you can easily incorporate affordable add-ons to your facial, like a boosting serum or light peel.

Skin In The City

Capitol Hill neighborhood
Our favorite: iS Clinical Fire & Ice Facial
It might sound like a treatment straight out of Game of Thrones, but this facial is no fantasy, and the results are real. A boutique medi-spa, this intensive clinical treatment is just 35 minutes and all about rapidly (and safely) resurfacing the skin with a retinol masque. By diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles while softening, smoothing and hydrating the skin, you’ll feel rejuvenated instantly—no downtime required.

E5 Day Spa

Goldsmith neighborhood
Our favorite: Customized 60 Minute Facial
A facial made just for you? That’s what E5 offers with this treatment. Whether you’re prone to oily skin or need a deep exfoliation, the estheticians here will customize a facial catered to your skin type. Utilizing steam, exfoliation techniques, hydration masks and more to soften and rejuvenate your skin, that dry, dull feeling will instantly melt away. You can also add-on affordable treatments to your facial—like an eye collagen treatment—so you’ll get that glow the second you step out of the spa.

i {heart} skin

Alamo Placita neighboorhood
Our favorite: Gua Sha+ Gemstone Facial Massage
Channel all the positive (skin) energy with this advanced enhancement from i {heart} skin. Rooted in Chinese Medicine, gemstone tools—like rose quartz, jade, and amethyst—and Gua Sha techniques are used to detoxify, brighten and tighten even the most tired skin as they infuse oils and serums deep into the face. Your facial muscles will be lifted and fine lines relaxed. Sounds like a win-win!

Not Too Cheesy: Vegan "Cheese" Recipes That Taste Like The Real Thing

Recipes
Food
Nutrition

We all love cheese. And if you don’t love cheese, well, you just haven’t found the right kind for you. If you’re unlucky like me, however, cheese does not like you. Thankfully, we live in 2020, where plant-based cheese recipes are alive and well.

I have been dairy-free for a few years, and cheese is truly the food group I miss the most. As much as we try, we sometimes just can’t get vegan cheese to taste like the real thing. So, I recruited my dairy-loving, cow-consuming friends to be my taste-testers. Their brutal honesty helped me create some “fake” cheese that can actually compete with the real stuff.

Goat "Cheese" Ball

Did you know you can make mouth-watering “fake” cheese with macadamia nuts? Yes, macadamia nuts. If you’re craving that creamy consistency but your stomach isn’t down for dairy, try out this recipe inspired by Simple Vegan Blog

Nacho "Cheese" Sauce

I know what you’re thinking: is this real? Is it too good to be true? No nuts, no fat, and it tastes good? You’re in for a treat. No one can tell the difference between this recipe and their favorite gooey cheese sauce. This recipe makes a lot of sauce, so be ready to share and shock your dairy-loving friends.
